On December 23, 2025, Sandra Woodruff succumbed to various complications
due to colon cancer and died. As a result, all her radio projects are
no longer active.
Part of those projects was the Automatic Weather Report Generator,
created by Stephen P. Lepisto for Sandra Woodruff. It is a set
of C++ programs running on Linux that gets the weather forecast
for a specific area from the National Weather Service, converts
that forecast into speech using ElevenLabs and stores the result
in MP3 files. These weather reports would then be uploaded
automatically to the broadcast server(s) for each radio station.
A number of different voices can be scheduled just like radio
announcers to "read" the weather forecast for each area. In
other words, a completely automated weather forecast "read" on
the air.
The Generator has been turned off from this domain and no further
updates will be made. The examples below are the weather at
about 12:00 pm on January 28, 2026.
